Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • What is in a Salvestrol capsule?
Salvestrol capsules consist of fruit and vegetable powder as follows: 300 mg of mixed citrus standardized to 25% (75 mg) citrus bioflavonoids expressed as polyphenols 75mg of dried pumpkin (winter squash) 75mg of grape seed extract (not derived from grapefruit seed or grape skin) None of the contents have been genetically modified or treated with pesticides or anti-fungal agents. Salvestrols are encased in vegetable capsules containing a citrus background filler. The quantity of magnesium stearate used in the encapsulation process is very small and is vegetable quality specifically designed for use in the manufacture of food products.
  • Who can safely take Salvestrol?
Salvestrol is safe for most people and pets, but some should avoid it or use it with caution. Please consult a healthcare practitioner before using Salvestrol. They can help you decide if it is the right choice. People who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take Salvestrol. Children younger than 12 years old should only take Salvestrol under guidance from a pediatrician. People undergoing drug therapy can typically take Salvestrol, as it is a food supplement. Some therapies may require restricting intake of the fruit sources listed on the product label. Naringenin (a compound commonly found in grapefruit) can interfere with some drug therapies. Salvestrol does not contain naringenin. If you or your doctor are unsure, stop taking Salvestrol at least 3 days prior to treatment and resume 3 days after treatment has finished.
  • What dosage of Salvestrol should be taken?
The dosage guidelines below are generalized. Please talk to a healthcare practitioner when deciding how to dose Salvestrol. They can help you find the right dose for your needs. Adults Serious Health Challenges Take 3 capsules: 2 in the morning and 1 at noon, with or before your meals. Take them 3 - 4 hours apart. For the first month, you may need to double this dose as a loading dose. Your doctor can tell you more. If you don’t notice any effect at this dose, ask your doctor about increasing it. Prevention or Previous Health Challenges Take 3 capsules: 2 in the morning and 1 at noon, with or before your meals. Take them 3 - 4 hours apart. Repeat this dose for one month to lower your risk of health challenges. Then, continue the dose for two consecutive days out of each week. For example, you could decide to take Salvestrol on the weekend and skip it on weekdays. Children There are currently no guidelines for administering Salvestrol to children. Please consult your child's pediatrician. Pets Pets should take 1 capsule with one meal per day for every 40 lbs that they weigh. For smaller pets, you can empty the contents of the capsule proportionally by their weight into the meal. If your pet does not respond to treatment after two weeks, gradually increase the dose to 2 capsules per meal (or double the amount your pet was taking daily). These guidelines are for dogs. Your veterinarian can help you create a treatment plan for your pet.
  • What should I avoid while taking Salvestrol?
Complete inhibitors are substances that can bind with the CYP1B1 enzyme and inhibit the metabolism of Salvestrol, sometimes until the enzyme is replaced (about every 3 days). Some of these substances may take a long time to clear from the body. The following are complete inhibitors and should be avoided while taking Salvestrol: Saint John's wort (hypericin) Agricultural and industrial anti-fungal chemicals Calcium D glucarate (inhibits beta-glucuronidase which aids transport within the body) Carbon monoxide (smokers can take Salvestrol before bed to give it time to work without interference from carbon monoxide) Partial inhibitors are substances that can partially inhibit the CYP1B1 enzyme and should be avoided if possible. However, their effects can be counteracted (see below). The following substances are partial inhibitors: Artificial sweeteners (stevia, xylitol, etc.) (small amounts in a supplement are fine; honey is recommended as a replacement) Cannabis (CBD, CBN, and THC) Gingko biloba Ginseng Grapefruit juice (naringenin) Metformin Resveratrol (in supplement strength) Vitamin B17 (amygdalin, laetrile, apricot kernels) To counteract the effects of partial inhibitors: Take more Salvestrol. This will increase the likelihood of Salvestrol binding with CYP1B1 rather than the inhibitor. This should not reduce the effectiveness of other compounds as long as the desired mode of action of that substance is not through CYP1B1 and it just happens to react with it. The effectiveness of the other compound may even increase in this scenario. Take Salvestrol in the morning and postpone the use of an inhibitor until mid-afternoon or evening. This allows both compounds to have a high concentration in the blood and act without competition, maximizing effectiveness.
  • What can I do to increase the effectiveness of Salvestrol?
Adding a multivitamin to your supplement regimen that contains these vitamins and minerals may increase the effectiveness of Salvestrol: Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) Vitamin B3 (niacin) Vitamin C Vitamin H (biotin) Iron (anemia can compromise the enzymes that metabolize Salvestrol) Magnesium Selenium Probiotics can improve the uptake of Salvestrol into the body. Probiotic supplements and yogurt are available at many health food and drug stores. Exercise is important to increase oxygen levels, especially about 3 hours after taking Salvestrol. It is recommended that individuals taking Salvestrol choose organic foods whenever possible.
  • Are Salvestrols antioxidants?
Some Salvestrols are antioxidants and some are not. Antioxidants work by reducing cell DNA damage from free-radicals. Salvestrols work through a specific mechanism that acts after cell damage has occurred, so they are effective beyond the point where normal antioxidants cease to be useful.
  • Is Salvestrol available in powdered form?
Salvestrol is not available in powdered form. The formula is encapsulated to ensure that 2000 Salvestrol points are reliably delivered in each therapeutic dose. If you have difficulty swallowing capsules, we recommend breaking the capsules apart and mixing them in a probiotic yogurt, which can increase the uptake of Salvestrol.
  • Is Resveratrol a Salvestrol?
Yes, but it is not possible to dose it effectively. Although resveratrol is a good antioxidant, its effective dosage range as a salvestrol is very narrow. At higher concentrations, it is an inhibitor of CYP1B1. It is not possible to determine the dose at which the inhibition starts but we know that it is very low. Given this, it should not be taken at supplement strength while taking Salvestrols.
  • Why don't you use grapefruit seeds or grape skin?
As noted above, Salvestrol capsules are partially composed of an extract from the seeds of grapes. Grapefruit contains naringenin, which is a CYP enzyme inhibitor and should be avoided if taking prescription medicines or Salvestrols. Salvestrols do not contain grapefruit or grapefruit extracts since this would inhibit the enzyme targeted by the product. Grapes (as opposed to grape seeds) are said to be harmful for dogs to consume. Many people use Salvestrols for dogs, which is safe to do because grape seeds and grape seed extracts are not harmful to dogs.
  • How should I use LypoSalve Adaptive Skin Care?
LypoSalve Adaptive Skin Care (the new liposomal form of Salvestrol Cream) is designed for topical use in combination with at least one capsule of Salvestrol per day. LypoSalve Adaptive Skin Care does not work faster or better if more is applied; use only enough to lightly cover the affected area. LypoSalve Adaptive Skin Care can be applied several times daily, depending on the severity of the problem, over as large an area as necessary, but should not be applied directly to an open sore. There are no known allergic reactions to LypoSalve Adaptive Skin Care.
  • Does ModeraFlam contain Salvestrols?
Yes, ModeraFlam contains enough Salvestrols to constitute a maintenance dose in addition to the anti-inflammatory effects provided. Please note that ModeraFlam does not contain as much Salvestrols as Salvestrol Platinum 2000.
